Do you set goals? How do you measure whether you have accomplished them or not? Are you hard on yourself if you don't accomplish all the goals you set for yourself?

The list of goals in the above instagram post was an important one for me. It gave me the opportunity to ask what I specifically wanted to accomplish, without necessarily considering what impact it would have on anyone else. To me, goal setting is important, but rigid adherence to goals - no matter what - is not in my nature, especially across the timespan of almost a year. So much will change in anyone's life within one year. As an exercise, and to help with improving at setting future goals I will review the ones I set 10 months ago:

  1. I posted 3 songs to SoundCloud +

  2. I wrote lyrics for 4 songs but not the music - I didn't write as much music as I thought I would this year, BUT I did perform 4 songs at Brookline PorchFest as part of a band. I sang lead vocals on one song, played guitar on all 4 songs, and played two guitar solos. This was not something that was on the horizon in March when I set my goals, but it ended up being one of my biggest musical accomplishments of the year. +

  3. I read 5 books +

  4. I spent WAY more time at the beach, and somehow this was enough by itself +
